I am just trying to understand my hair, to learn what works and what doesn't, to experiment, make mistakes, and to embrace my hair in it's entirety..... because Roots Don't Lie

Twists Pin-Up

Hey Guys,
I am away from my house for a few days, I did not pack any hair products, and my hair decided to show me pepper..... Eventually I raised my white flag of surrender and decided to put my hair in twists so I would not hate myself when I got back home.
I started out on a 5 day old twist-out..

After about 4 hours.. I ended up with this mess..

I put the twist under my satin bonnet and went to bed..
I woke up this morning and they looked even worse than the night before so I decided to pin them up into a cute little hair style. My ends will be protected and I wont walk around looking crazy..

I used a lot of bobby pins and this was the end result!!

Sorry for the blurry pictures....
When I go out I will dress it up with some flower pins or a head band...
Hope you enjoyed..

We Got A Hair Situation !!!!!! Code RED

Hey Guys,

I was a chirpy little bird going around my day all happy with pollinating my way around the world when I had a rude awakening... fast forward back to human life and I was holding up some of my shed hair to make sure it was not breaking or anything when I saw them... SPLIT ENDS!!!! and they were everywhere.....
I almost  had a freak-out session.... so so sad.. but eventually I decided to take action and just get rid of all the split ends. No point in keeping them  because they will just keep on splitting and stay raggedy..

I guess it is understandable as I have not had so much as a trim in over a year. Even when my hair was relaxed, I got a trim at least twice a year so I just may have brought this on myself :(
My hair stylists lives far far away and I was not sure I would get a chance to see her anytime soon. So I decided that I would go ahead and just give myself a trim.. (Insert OH LAWDY LAWDY LORD face here).

One of my favourite youtuber Naptural85 has this amazing tutorial on How To Trim Your Own Hair  so I watched it and tried my best to re-do what she did.

Before:

I ended up taking off about an inch in some places and even more in other places ...YIKES!!!!! It is definitely  not uniform, but I hope that I at least got most of the split ends off

After:

My ends feel soo much smoother, and not as raggedy and ugly as before...
Hopefully I would be able to pay my hair stylist a visit soon and she can probably help fix my now jacked up hair shape... lol

Another Twist Out

Hey Guys,
I did another twist-out using the same method from my older post CLICK HERE
The results...
Day 1
Did not take a lot of pictures was in a hurry and I forgot to take pictures when I got home (sorry )

DAY 2:

DAY 3:

I stayed at home all day so I just did two big twists across the front, and left the rest of the hair out....

Excuse the weird looking eye

I really enjoyed DAY 2 hair the most. Next time I will probably put in big twists at night to stretch the style longer.

Hope you enjoyed

Wash-N- Go Fail

Hey guys,

I decided to explore the world of Wash-n-go's and let's just say... my hair refused to wash and go.  I had watched a ton of youtube videos and I was certain I had got the hang of this whole wash-n-go business but it did not turn out the way I expected...

Tools I Used:

  • Shea Moisture curl enhancing smoothie
  • Shea moisture balancing conditioner
  • Eco-Styler Hair gel
  • My spray bottle with water, olive oil and peppermint oil
  • Wide tooth comb for detangling
  • Smaller tooth comb for smoothing out the hair

The Styling:
I started out on freshly co-washed hair.

I parted my hair into 5 sections one in the back, two on either side, and two on top.
I made sure each section was wet and I used the spray bottle to re-wet as needed
I applied some of the Shea moisture balancing conditioner, as my leave-in.
Then I parted out smaller sections and worked a little bit of the curl enhancing smoothie on each section.
I followed with the Eco-styler gel and smoothed it through the hair to make sure I applied the product thoroughly.

The Good Part:
  1. I got super super defined curls, that I never even knew existed on my head !!!!

  1. Major major major shrinkage, which I actually don't mind
  2. My hair was not super crunchy as it was the last time i tried a wash and go, but I know the curl enhancing smoothie helped to reduce the crunch.

The Bad Part :(

I styled my hair at night and put on a plastic cap expecting it to be dry sometime early the next day...... UH!!!!! I woke up in the morning my hair was almost still soaking wet, and even by 5pm the next day my hair was still wet :(

My hair was filled with white clumpy stuff that was not even cute.. at all...

Some parts just came out all mis-shaped and just ughh!!

    Next Time:

    1. I will probably use just the curl enhancing smoothie
    2. I will also probably go easy on the Eco-styler ( I may have been a little bit heavy handed with it)
    3. Maybe use a blow-dryer to quicken the drying process.
Anyways guys, I will probably try another wash-n-go real soon and hopefully it turns out better this time.

If you have any tips on how I can get a more successful wash-n-go style next time please leave your comments or just share your own wash-n-go experiences..

    XOXO
